Doing and discovering OVER analysing and debating
The Manifesto for Agile Software Development still holds strong in 2023, but I believe there's room for improvement.
For years, I've felt the need to expand the focus from just software to include the entire product. In my training and consulting, I often replace the word software with product. It makes better sense in these times and does not compromise the manifesto's core purpose, values and principles.
However, lately, I've noticed a growing trend of excessive debates and meetings, leading to decreased productivity. People seem to be spending more time talking about their products, processes, practices, and agility and less time actually doing the work. I've witnessed a customer debate every idea for weeks, resulting in a bureaucratic overload. They had more meetings than time to do the work.
I propose the addition of a fifth value to the manifesto:
Doing and discovering OVER analysing and debating
